As a final-year nursing student at Dublin City University, set to complete internship in September, I have gained hands-on experience across various clinical settings, developing strong skills in patient care, clinical assessment, and teamwork. I am excited to begin my professional career and contribute to patient care in a clinical setting upon graduation.
I obtained practical exposure in a variety of clinical settings during my nursing internship, such as Rheumatology units and surgical wards. In order to provide patient-centered care, hone clinical abilities, and assist patients with both acute and chronic medical issues, I collaborated closely with multidisciplinary teams. I am advancing my understanding of neurological care and long-term condition management during my last placement in a specialized epilepsy unit.
Important experience consists of:
-Helping in surgical units with pre- and post-operative care
-Assisting rheumatology patients with autoimmune and musculoskeletal disorders
-Studying care planning and seizure control in specialized epilepsy unit
-Vital sign monitoring, supervised medication administration, and care documentation
-Effectively interacting with healthcare teams, families, and patients
My clinical judgment, flexibility, and compassion have all been enhanced by this varied experience, and I can not wait to apply these traits in a newly certified nursing position.
My background in nursing proved vital during a critical incident at the airport when a passenger suffered a cardiac arrest. I immediately applied my CPR training, stabilizing the individual until emergency services arrived. This quick response and clinical confidence were recognized by supervisors, leading to a promotion within just two months of starting the role
Among my responsibilities were:
- Helping passengers with anxiety, medical equipment, or physical impairments and making sure their requirements were satisfied throughout the screening procedure.
-Using discretion and care when handling others, especially when they are in distress or need specific accommodations.
-Collaborating with accessibility services and airport medical personnel to ensure that passengers received the help they needed.
As a healthcare assistant my role involved providing patients with urgent and complicated needs with high quality care in hectic clinical environments.
In addition I also:
-Maintained patient safety and dignity while offering emotional support, mobility assistance, and personal care.
-Quickly adjusting to shifting clinical circumstances, I helped during emergencies and urgent interventions.
-Always ensured to comply with stringent PPE and infection control guidelines to safeguard employees and patients.
-Facilitated transfers, discharges, and admissions while guaranteeing a seamless patient flow.
-Shown professionalism, resiliency, and empathy when providing end-of-life care or treating patients with disabilities or chronic illnesses.
