The Middle office unit was responsible for a broad range of tasks and processes that are conducive to the smooth operation of other dependent business models.

  • Trade processing review - Daily monitoring of all STP trades to ensure all details are correct.
  • Provide cover for running the daily interface, using the daily checklist and carry out Portia to NT IOO reconciliations. Reconciling systems in timely manner for business sign off prior to 9am.
  • Cash Management of all portfolios to include management of all cashflows and FX to trade settlements.
  • Processing Fund Rebalances in a timely manner including equity static set ups and pricing.
  • Compliance Monitoring- Daily review and authorization. Compliance set-ups and maintenance.
  • Mifid II Trade and Transaction Reporting daily checks and reporting.
  • Maintenance of accounting system (Portia) to include all transactions and standing data.
  • Monitor and follow up with failed trades reports. Consult with Portfolio Managers , dealing desk and back office as required.
  • Portfolio cash flow Management , monitor daily Portfolio and fund cash flows ensuring prompt input of same to Cashman system.
  • Daily monitoring of Corporate actions module ensuring all entitlement and instruction options are received from NT. Send information on voluntary corporate actions to relevant Portfolio Manager , follow up and submit responses to NT corporate actions team within response deadlines. Where necessary placing restrictions in place in the compliance system.
  • Complete price checks , price updates and price imports as required.
  • Daily review of NT stock and cash reconciliations report. Query any issues or breaks.
  • Complete any new Portfolio, security and other data set ups in Portia in a timely manner.

Management of day to day activities of the Fixed income department to ensure effective and timely support for multiple stakeholders and departments. Responsibilities included review, release, and authorisation of various transactions, ensuring timely settlement and compliance with regulations. Dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of accurate accounting records, prepare reports, resolve any queries with stakeholders and to ensure all tasks for the securities operations department were successfully completed.

Achievements Include:

  • Review, authorisation and release of swift payments and security settlement transactions for all Fixed Income and Treasury products in a timely and efficient manner to ensure all currency deadlines were met daily.
  • Monitor Custody platforms daily to ensure any upcoming trade settlements were matched, corporate actions were received and efficiently actioned and that all tax documents were also monitored and updated as required.
  • All derivative collateral product reports reviewed daily and margin calls authorised in line with counterparty agreements.
  • Maintained accurate accounting records of all products, bonds, interest rate and Asset Swaps, Total Return Swaps, Asset Backed Security loans, Managed funds, Futures, options, loans, deposits and Hedge accounting etc.
  • Ensuring that interest rates were correctly populated, and resulting cash flows and P&L are in order.
  • Review and maintenance of Target 2 account, transferring any liquidity requirements to Nostro to allow for intraday settlements, e.g. Capital markets intraday funding requirements.
  • Process any product limit changes within system for fixed income, money market and corporate loan products, conduct a semi-annual review of all bank product limits, monitoring Global Master Repurchase (GMRA) agreements, Advice of Investments(AOI’s) and Advice of Credits (AOC’s).
  • Provide thorough cross training, coaching and mentoring to staff on any of the products as required.
  • Review and authorise the accurate input and update of all Static data which is essential for accurate STP payment processing, responsible for updating the Financial Reporting Department on all Static Data changes that impacts regulatory reporting and ensuring information is correct for all other stakeholders dependent on the static feed.
  • Review and authorisation of payment processing of all supplier invoices.
  • Played an integral role in two core system implementations for Fixed Income department. Participated actively in all the testing cycles and continually carried out thorough System testing so that new approved products could be added to the system.
  • Conduct all activities in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and ensuring all procedures were kept updated.
  • Review and prepare daily, weekly, monthly reports within a timely manner, e.g. daily Gap Blotter report, Securities Financing Transaction Regulation (SFTR) repo report, Mifid transaction reporting, Monthly Accrued interest report checks, Monthly Guarantee's checks for all loans and bonds, Monthly Credit ratings checks, and Monthly Hedge reports.
  • Authorise and monitor Mifid/SFTR transaction reporting, ensured compliance with Central Securities Depositories (CSDR) regulation with regards to trade settlement.
  • Ensure that end of day process was completed each evening prior to start of overnight batch process. Any issues escalated to Manager as required.
