  • Production manager for an abattoir that processes 55,000 cattle per annum, approximately 18,700,000 kgs of beef, whilst up-keeping high food safety standards and HACCP requirements. Responsible for 55 members of staff of various nationalities, mostly skilled knife operatives. Also responsible for 28 different offal products and the site’s hides skins operation.
  • Responsible for budgeting within the department, ensuring labour cost remains on or below target and that downtime and overtime was kept to a minimum. Also responsible for the department’s energy usage and the site’s CAT 1, 2 and 3 waste disposal, ensured that these remained on or below target.
  • Boosted department efficiency by streamlining operational processes, carrying out process mapping and reducing non value added time.
  • Reported performance metrics daily. Held daily pulse meetings with abattoir supervisor and other relevant stakeholders to ensure alignment.
  • Attended weekly site management meetings. Strong experience in cross functional collaboration.
  • Enforced safety regulations to reduce workplace accidents, carrying out regular PPE and SSOP compliance audits.
