Summary

I have loved making food and working with people who also have a passion for creating good dishes. However, recently I've been looking for a change. Working in the food industry is no longer something I'm finding passion for. I have been interested in getting into welding for a while now, although a very different field of work. I always strive to learn as much as I can and maintain consistency in any work I do, trying to make necessary improvements as I go.

I have some experience helping my father, who's a carpenter, with some jobs throughout the years. Basic knowledge of using tools (drills, tape measures, chop saws, etc.) and repairing things.

  • I attended to basic shop work like stocking products and facing the shop; I also worked on the tills, which involved selling lotto, cigarettes, serving ice cream, and other basic shopping items. During the day, I also assisted with the deli and hot counters, basically just attending to customers in all areas when needed. In all sections, I would clean and close for the evenings

  • I did basic waitressing jobs (making drinks, attending the till, serving food/drinks, keeping the shop floor tidy, and stocked, etc.). I was able to work under fast-paced conditions, always prioritising working as a team and making sure things ran as smoothly as they could. I was able to manage the cafe alone during our less busy seasons, which often meant closing up by myself and making sure everything was ready for opening the next day.

  • I assisted the head chef with preparing and cooking meals. If it were a busier day, I would take over making a few of the meals, which meant I was trained to make all of the meals for these occasions.
  • I was able to produce large quantities of products with consistent quality. I prioritise keeping workspaces organised, clean, and ready for service. We received large deliveries weekly, which I assisted with to ensure proper storage and stock rotation, in order to reduce spoilage. I always did my best to implement health and safety protocols in the kitchen, ensuring compliance with food hygiene regulations and standards.
