News Runner Role:
Working on a wide variety of shows, including news bulletins and other programmes with the Current Affairs team.
Responsible for circulation of news scripts and running orders for news bulletins.
Assisting programme editors, news coordinators and directors throughout the day.
Coordinating audience hospitality for Current Affairs programmes.
Greeting guests for news bulletins and Current Affairs programmes, which often include
politicians, ambassadors and experts in their fields.
Operating the autocue system for news programmes in studio.
Assisting in the training of new staff members.
Copytaker Role:
Working at the News Desk, the primary hub for information coming in and out of the Newsroom.
Working directly with chief News Editors, Reporters and Correspondents.
Responsibility for the News Desk email and phone line.
Regularly liaising with RTE reporters and with members of the public.
Working quickly and accurately towards a strict deadline.
Working in a very high pressure and fast-paced environment.
Researcher for The Week in Politics programme:
Researching the various topics to be discussed on the show, and contacting guests and representatives from press offices.
Editing clips of the show to be posted on social media.
Editing trailers of the show to be posted on social media before the programme airs.
Proficient use of Instagram, Tiktok, and X.
Current Affairs File Assistant Cover:
Working directly with editors, producers and reporters on the Current Affairs team to gather media files for packages and interviews.
Proficient use of Avid Media software.
Assisting with the creation of promos for television and social media.
Completed Microsoft Office Systems exams in Powerpoint and Word, and proficient in use of Excel.
Fire Safety Training completed in various workplaces.
Active member of 54th Cornelscourt Scout Troup for many years, helping out as a cub leader frequently.
Came second in a Dublin Inter-schools Spelling Bee in 2015.
