Peter Gillooly

I am experienced in the school environment as well as other environments outside school including businesses that work with the public. I have various interests and hobbies including sport and music. I am creative and an adaptable teaching professional with experience in planning and presenting lessons catering to varying needs and abilities. I am an organised, confident and friendly individual. I am energetic and empathetic person with desire to help children succeed in their environment. I strive to use excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with students, staff, parents and others. I am committed to inspiring and motivating people through successful team-building strategies. Focused on instilling sense of commitment, drive and responsibility in those I work with. Skilled at developing trusted rapport with teams and individuals to understand strengths, weaknesses and motivations.

• In 2016, I received first-class honours in the Foundation Certificate in Youth Leadership and Community Action from NUIG. I feel I have applied these leadership skills very well on the pitch and in my teaching roles.
• Won a Connacht title with Roscommon and got to an All-Ireland final in Gaelic football. Made my senior Roscommon senior footballer debut in 2019, playing for the squad for a number of years after.
• Received the Dermot Earley Scholarship Bursary for the 2018/2019 year.
• Won the Hannah Greally Literary award.
• Received Academic awards for English and Geography in 2019 for my Leaving Cert results receiving highest in the year for both subjects.
• I have completed a 120-hour TEFL (Teaching Course) which allows me and qualifies me to teach English as a foreign language in a range of different countries.
• I have a range of courses done in Sports Psychology, Wellness and Wellbeing and mental strength and perseverance through the GPA (Gaelic Players Association).
• I have a range of other training courses completed particularly in areas of curriculum and trauma-based training for children.
• Completed Athletic Development training with Longford GAA in 2025, teaching young athletes how to run correctly, running mechanics and weightlifting.
• I have completed a Master’s degree in Sports and Exercise Psychology through Setanta college. Accredited by the Irish American University.

• GAA- Playing for my club Roscommon Gaels from underage to currently playing senior.
• GAA- Representing and playing for Roscommon Football team from minor to senior level.
• Soccer- Representing Ireland at youth level, playing at national level with Athlone town at youth level.
• Music- Huge interest in listening and playing music.
• Sport- Have a huge interest in all sports.
