I held the position of lead Clinical Midwife Specialist -having responsibilty for the establishment of our Early Pregnancy Unit- delivering high quality and evidence based care to our women experiencing complications in the first trimester of their pregnancy.
Establishing and running our Fetal Assessment Unit- responsibility for the application of ultrasound to monitor fetal wellbeing in our high risk cohort of patients .
The provision of our mid trimester anomaly scan to check and exclude any fetal abnormality in our entire population of women attending our service.
The provision of all necessary protocols and guidelines for the safe practice - using evidence based information.
Overview and management of all ultrasound equipment - holding electronic log of all equipment used and ensuring regular servicing and QC checks.
Member of the hospital Decontamination Committee ensuring the cleaning and sterilisation of our ultrasound equipment as per local and national guidelines.
Cooperating with multidiscliplinary teams - both within our unit and outside in tertiary care settings.
Delivered in house education sessions to all of the midwifery and obstetric medical team in varying aspects of the application and role of ultrasound in the delivery of safe antenatal care and improved perinatal outcomes.
Mentor for the Graduate Certificate and Masters Programme via University College, Dublin in Diagnostic Imaging.

Accomplishments
I recently received recognition for my role as Clinical Midwife Specialist at St.Luke's Hospital, Kilkenny for the establishment of the Maternity Ultrasound Service. This recognition received from Ms Ann Fleming - Associate Adjunct Professor for Obstetric Ultrasound trainig,
and Ms Clare Kennedy - ADOM at NHWIP. Presentation took place at UCD Conference in collaboration with BMUS-British Medical Ultrasound Society on 18/10/2025
