Currently in my final weeks of clinical placement Two which will end on 05/31/24.
To date,
Completed Clinical Placement One ( Eight weeks ) in GUH and CAHMHS Galway. Here I got exposure to the areas of care of the elderly, type-1 diabetes, paediatric cystic fibrosis, oncology, general medical and paediatric mental health and eating disorders.
Community placement within Simon Community ( Four weeks ) working with homeless groups and those with alcohol and drug dependency. Nutrition education seminars were conducted in addition to putting forward a nutritional recommendation policy for food providers in the service.
Industrial Placement ( Four weeks ) in Abbott. Involved in carrying out MUST audits for nursing homes, delivering MUST training to staff, menu analysis and Liaising with product sales representatives.
Clinical Placement Two ( Eight Weeks ) between UHL, St. Camillus Rehab Hospital and Ennis Hospital gaining exposure in Type-1 diabetes, geriatrics, Oncology, surgical, neuro-disabilities and wound healing.
Undertaken a research project entitled "The role and responsibilities of a dietetic assistant grade in Ireland: Delphi survey" to draft a job specification for a dietetic assistant in Ireland.
These placements have allowed for proficiency in CORU competencies.
