As part of a software team responsible for millenium bug testing I implemented a test system to mirror production code and systems, testing for y2k compatibility and system integrity.
I started as a trainee and learned my IT knowledge through inhoiuse and external training courses in Ireland the the USA.
I worked though the ranks to become a lead development programmer on IBM mainframe using COBOL and DB2 primarily.
I was employed as a part time cashier in a bureau de change office in the summer of 1990.
First Rate Bureau De Change limited was a wholly subsidiary of Bank of Ireland group.
In my 4 years I helped establish new offices in Ireland and implemented training and operational procedures.
I obtained a diploma in HR managen=ment in DIT Rathmines and was also responsible for interviewing and recruiting fellow bureau staff.
From cashier I was promoted to Bureau Leader in Dublin, and following that I was promoted to operations coordinator in head office.
My final months with First Rate saw me temporarily relocate to London where I was part of the team that implemented the Bureau De Change fulfillment operations for The Post Office UK
