Work history

Sports Journalist

Limerick Leader
Limerick City , Ireland
2025.04 - Current
  • Have been working in the sports department at the Limerick Leader Newspaper since April 2025.
  • My day-to-day work duties from Monday to Friday consist of getting content in and on time for our two weekly newspapers as well as making sure our website online has plenty of content.
  • The Leader's website produces five sports stories every day and a daily duty of mine is to ensure that those stories are scheduled and ready to go, as well as producing my own.
  • My weekend match-day duties consists of covering a match, can be League of Ireland action with Treaty United, Limerick Senior Club Football and Hurling Championships, All-Ireland Rugby League action and Limerick inter-county Hurling/Football action, with post-match reaction and interviews to follow.
  • Personal highlights for me include getting to cover the 2026 All-Ireland Hurling Final, the 2025 Tailteann Cup Final, the 2025 League of Ireland First Division play-offs as well as the many Limerick Club Hurling/Football Championship matches.
  • Getting to sit down and speak to John Kiely, Cian Lynch, Declan Hannon, William O'Connor, Treaty United CEO Ian McMahon, Treaty United manager Tommy Barrett, broadcaster Conor McNamara, Peter O'Mahony, Paddy Donovan and Alan Quinlan amongst many others are experiences that are beyond invaluable.

Sports Editor

University of Limerick
Limerick City, Limerick
2023.09 - 2024.05
  • I was Sports Editor of the Limerick Voice Newspaper during my time as a final year student in UL.
  • The Limerick Voice won Student Newspaper of the Year in April 2024 at the National Student Media Awards (SMEDIAS), something I am incredibly proud of seeing as the standard of student newspapers in Ireland is quite high.
  • My role as Sports Editor was to provide and manage sports stories to my colleagues, to proof read their stories and generally, to oversee every story that was coming in and out of the sports department, as well as providing my own content.
  • Being in a leadership type role was definitely something I took great value and pride in. Thankfully the team worked very well together to get our paper out on time, which won national honor's in the end.

Multimedia Journalist

The Kerryman
Tralee, Kerry
2022.06 - 2022.12
  • Worked in The Kerryman Newspaper as part of an eight-month placement for my Journalism and Digital Communications course at UL.
  • It was a role which consisted of typical journalism work, writing articles, sourcing stories, daily interviews, building contacts/relationships etc.
  • After a few months I began to get involved with the advertisement side of the newspaper, which was really interesting to experience and to see how the advertisement side of a paper works.
  • The experience gained from my time at The Kerryman was beyond valuable and was a massive help in helping me finish out my degree at UL, I could not have asked for a better first exposure to the world of journalism/print journalism.
