Additional Information

  • Sport/ Physical Education: I am an enthusiastic and motivated sports player and I have played football and basketball with my local team. I have a keen interest in the benefits of physical activity to children’s social and emotional development. I undertook Leading Gaelic Games module as my elective in second year in Mary Immaculate College where I learned innovative, interesting activities and drills for children to take part in. I also love to run and have recently completed the Cork City Marathon and Sydney Marathon.
  • Music: My love of music, especially traditional music was evident from my childhood days. I took up music lessons from a young age and can play several instruments such as the concertina, tin whistle, button accordion and the recorder. I undertook ‘Music in the School and Community’ module as my elective in fourth year where I learned various strategies and methodologies to implement in my own teaching. Music can be used as a mode for the children to express themselves in the classroom. During my time in Ballyfermot, I participated in dance classes to promote physical activity.
  • IT: I am an avid user of technology, and I am well equipped to use IT to its full potential within the classroom. I am confident in my skills when using a computer and have completed the European Computer Driving Licence which has equipped me with the necessary skills to use all applications on a computer, which I find very helpful for organising resources and filing.
