As a 49 year old man I have gained enough lived experience that would make me a great asset to your company. By experience, I do not mean I have travelled the world or lived a hell raiser past. By experience I mean I have felt and dealt with more than my share of curveballs that life can throw us. I have dealt with enough demons of my own-anxiety, grief, sexual issues and trauma. In the past six years I have done so much work on myself through counselling which has lead me to studying it. This suffering and the road it has led me down has thought me, that I am bursting at the seams to share it. I feel there is so much I could give to your organisation and in doing so turn my suffering into a positive outcome by helping others. As part of third year I had to complete 100 placement hours as a trainee counsellor. I completed 10 hours with Cuan Saor womens refuge, and the remaining 90 with turn2me, a free online counselling service, some of which would have entailed people suffering with grief due to loss of a loved one due to suicide. Currently, this year I have done 95 hours with Turn2Me.
Role involved being present and looking after children and teenagers up to 18 years of age who had been removed from their homes and taken into care, due to trauma in their place of home. Turn2me offers free on line counselling. In my role as placement counsellor I would have counselled people from all walks of life with all varying issues from 18 upwards.
