  • Directly responsible for the SME Department fee projections, fee budgets, cash collections, staff development and internal controls / procedures. SME Department now has 9 total staff members which is representative of year on year growth for a number of years.
  • Service a portfolio of circa 160 clients for a number of partners within the firm.
  • Continue to assist with ad hoc projects both for the firm internally and for clients externally. Internally we are striving to standardise our work processes and files in preparation for an upcoming practice review.
  • Mentored junior managers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and relationship building with clients within portfolio.

Manager SME Client Services

  • Fees / Lockup - monthly meetings with internal finance team and review of cash / fees budget. Liase with clients to agree fees and timelines around payment.
  • Schedule workflows around client expectations and ensure the correct level of staff are assigned to a case while supporting them throughout the job.
  • Assist in ad hoc assignments as required by other departments e.g due diligence, share swaps, restructuring etc.
  • Cross selling of services to current portfolio of clients e.g wealth management, succession planning, HR assistance etc.
  • Assist in the firms training plan - organise training sessions for trainees in the firm as agreed (not just SME Dublin trainees).
  • Tender for new business - prepare various tender documentation and fee budgets as requested for various partners.
  • Case portfolio management of circa 140 clients. I currently am directly responsible for cases for 7 different partners throughout the firm.
  • Deal with daily client ad-hoc requests that arise.

Assistant Manager - SME Client Services

  • At this stage the department now had a partner, a director, an assistant manager (myself) and one trainee.
  • I became directly involved in the management of cases of a portfolio containing circa 40 clients. Internally the support was strong in my department and if any issues arose I could quickly consult with more experienced collegues to decide on best action.
  • This role allowed me to build my confidence dealing directly with clients and organising / scheduling work to meet the various CRO / Revenue deadlines.
  • I gained a strong knowledge in a number of packages in this role - Sage Online, Quickbooks, Surf Accounts, Xero (later stage in role) etc.
  • Responsibility to liase with taxation and corporate compliance departments to ensure all documentation was presented for client to sign at closing meeting.
  • During this stage the departments client base continunied to grow (mainly due to internal cases being allocated to us) and the staff headcount grew to 6.

  • Transferred to the RBK Dublin Office in June 2018 following completion of my 3 year training contract.
  • Primarily at first I seniored a number of audits for the 3 Audit Partners based in the Dublin Office. These audits were mainly limited companies but also included regulated entities as my all round experience gained in my training contract made me a flexible staff member.
  • Seeing how different partners operated allowed me to develop my technical knowledge in a well rounded manner.
  • An SME Department was then established in the Dublin office where I worked as the sole senior from July 2019 to November 2019. A number of cases (primarily audit exempt) were passed over to this department from the audit department amongst an internal restructure.
  • Began to get involved in a number of cases containing budgeting, projected cashflows, bookkeeping, monthly management accounts etc along with the regular compliance work.
  • I was then promoted to Assistant Manager in the Department in December 2019.

Trainee Accountant

  • Preparation of financial statements from source documentation or client trial balance for review with manager / partner in timeframe agreed.
  • Preparation of partnership, sole trader and income tax return cases.
  • Responsibility over a small portfolio of clients to provide bookkeeping services with preparation of bi-monthly VAT Returns and management accounts as required.
  • Audit services as required - small company audits, regulated entities (Auctioneers / Co-Operative Marts) and Solicitors Accounts Regulations. Initially my role was to assist as junior on these cases before eventually senioring the cases.
  • Mentor and assist new starters to ensure they quickly familiarised themselves with the firms policies, procedures and processes.
  • Preparation of various annual tax returns as required - Corporation tax returns, 46G's, Return of Trading Details etc.
  • Majority of work completed was for the 4 managers in the office who reported directly to one partner.
