State Solicitors in Ireland act on behalf of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in Circuit Courts and occasionally in the District Courts. They support barristers working for the DPP to present the prosecution case in criminal matters in the Circuit Court in their respective counties. There is generally only one State Solicitor per county.
