- Responsible for managing an engine room team consisting of 2 Watchkeeping Engineers and 3 Engine Room Assistants
- Schedule maintenance and tasks for the engine room crew using the vessel's planned maintenance program
- Training and familiarizing new engineers and ERAs using the vessel's IMS and Ship Specific Work Instructions
- Responsible for performing corrective and condition based maintenance on Vessel's equipment as needed
- Ensured the engine room staff are working safely and in compliance with IMS standards
- Monitoring the condition of equipment on the vessel using oil samples and interpreting the results
- Monitoring the fuel levels on the vessel and transferring fuel as needed for operations
- Responsible for monitoring all equipment in the engine room for proper operation
- Conduct pre watch rounds daily to monitor the condition of equipment in machinery spaces outside the engine room
- Perform maintenance tasks delegated by the Senior or Chief Engineer
- Monitor the ships preventative maintenance program for maintenance requirements
- Supervise the ERA on watch, including assigning maintenance tasks
