Senior leadership responsibility for all non-scientific aspects of the AMBER centre, an organization of 90 academics investigators, 150 postgraduate and postdoctoral researchers and 34 professional staff across 10 academic institutions.
Senior Management responsibility for AMBERs 34 professional staff including administrative, financial, project management, funding diversification, facilities, technical, commercialization, business development and communications personnel.
Definition and execution of the Centre's strategic plan, delivering on its ambition to become an internationally leading materials science research centre and securing long-term funding from Irish exchequer, non-exchequer (EU), and industry sources. Successfully oversaw the execution of the current phase of AMBER. During this period, the Centre doubled in size, expanded its national footprint, and sustained an international reputation for scientific excellence, achieving cumulative research income of €40M from the Irish exchequer, €50M from non-exchequer sources, and €23M from industry.
Management of relationships with key senior stakeholders, including funding and enterprise agencies, government departments and senior management of Trinity College and partner universities partners, to ensure alignment and buy in to the centre strategic planning cycles.
Leadership of strategies for engagement with industry on collaborative research projects, engaging with C-suite level stakeholders from Irish based and international companies to showcase the AMBER value proposition to the company to drive future sustained investment.
Established AMBER's international presence by expanding strategic international partnerships with similar centres and partner associations in parallel to the implementation of an international funding diversification strategy.
Oversight of AMBER's governance structure including acting as the Secretariat to the Board, Chairing the Executive Committee and overseeing the operational committees within the centre
Representing AMBER nationally and internationally and advocating for the centre and its academic investigators.
