I am working in the Health Services with varied experience since 1993. I qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1997 and worked in management roles in UL Hospitals Group from 2003, firstly as Clinical Nurse Manger II, Allocations Liaison Officer for the UL Undergraduate Nursing Degree programme and more recently as HR Business Manager since January 2021. I have developed strong organisational and problem solving skills and work well as part of a team, flexible to ensure team goals are achieved. I have strong communications skills, delivering training programmes for staff, as well as providing reports required for Senior Management and third party organisations.
In my current role, I provide HR support to the Operational Services Directorate and have also worked with the Peri-Operative Directorate.
I have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and am proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
I work as part of the Employee Relations team, providing HR support in relation to the HSE Grievance Procedure, Disciplinary Procedure, Managing Attendance Policy, Dignity at Work Policy and Trust in Care. My role includes line manager and employee support, training, audit, problem solving and conflict management, preparing submissions for third party investigations and representing the organisation at WRC Hearings. I provide administration support for HR Investigations. I am team lead for Exit Interviews and Performance Achievement and Staff Engagement. I developed and implemented a process for capturing feedback from staff who leave the organisation. I also developed a process for implementation of the HSE Performance Achievement Policy. I am nominated team lead for co-ordinating HSE Staff Survey's in 2021 and 2023 and providing support on Staff Engagement. I am a Values in Action Champion in our organisation.
In this role I was responsible to plan and manage clinical placement requirements for 200 undergraduate nursing students. I was autonomous in my role and had health service responsibility for planning student placements to ensure they met NMBI requirements. I was also responsible for auditing student to preceptor ratios and skill mix. I prepared tender documents and managed process for student nurse uniforms. I was responsible for the development of a Standard Operating Procedure for Clinical Placement Allowances in line with DOHC Circulars and validated student claims for payment. I developed Policies, Protocols and Guidelines to support student nurse clinical placements and facilitated student Induction. I liaised with many stakeholders including UL Allocations and Academic team, Senior Nurse Managers and Nursing staff, HR, Finance and Occupational Health. I have a good working knowledge of SAP HR/Payroll system.
