I completed my Transition Year work placement with Reliance Precision Engineering in Bandon , Co Cork. While I was there my role was leadscrew quality inspection, inspection of goods inwards and operation of a manual splitting machine. i also shadowed a cnc operator and helped with the operation of cnc lathes and cnc milling machines.
I was in charge of the health and milking of the herd of 300 cows.
Assisted the site mechanical engineer on projects in the ThermoFisher site in Cork. Overseen installation of pipework and finishing of projects. My roles included walking pipelines and checking that they were built to specifications and that all nuts, bolts and fittings were present and tight. Processed new projects, split them up into separate test packs and converted them into the necessary documents needed for the company procedure for the completion of pipework projects. lead the team of fitters on the correction of any problems within the project.
As part of my other transition year work placement I worked for Brendan Walsh tractors. I was in charge of the restoration of a 1979 Ford 4600. I dissembled it, sandblasted, painted and rebuilt existing parts and assembled the tractor again within a short time frame.
Was in charge of delivering raw materials to the fabrication workshop, collecting and delivering all goods and consumables needed for day to day running of the workshop, helped fabricate double contained pipe spools, fluid manifolds and double contained fittings for the installation in pharmaceutical and bio-pharmaceutical industry. I am a player on both our intermediate Hurling and Gaelic Football teams. I also volunteer as a steward for games held in my local pitch. I was a member of Coachford Soccer Club where i played right-back and later in goals where we secured promotion 4 years in a row and reached the quarter final of the FAI u17 Cup. I also have played many musical instruments and attended the Willy Clancy School of Music. I enjoy working with and looking after animals. I participated in charity horse rides and maintained my own pony for several years. These jobs gave me a massive insight into the engineering industry and made me competent in all aspects of site safety and the increased levels of site safety on certain sites.
Operated an articulated dump truck safely and as part of a team onsite. I was responsible for upkeep and completing daily checks of my machine and ensuring it was in a suitable condition for work.
I am currently in my fourth year of level 9 of my Masters in Mechanical Engineering in Mtu Cork. I am the current class representative for the year and have served in this role since I commenced my studies. The course requires strong discipline and an indepth knowledge of thermodynamics and maths. Although the course is tough, I like a challenge and could not see myself enjoying any other course more.
Graduated from Coachford College achieving 555 points in the Leaving Certificate. I graduated top of my Engineering class and second in my Construction Studies class in the year. I achieved 2 H1's in engineering and construction, 2 H2's in Design and Comunication Grapics and Maths, 2 H3's in Technology and Physics. I also studied Applied Maths for the Leaving Certificate.

I participated as a registrar and steward for my local vintage run in aid of Cork Penny Dinners. I also worked as a registrar and steward for a tractor run in aid of the Laura Lynn Foundation.
