Works alongside psychiatric nurses and the mental health multidisciplinary team, that includes, consultant psychiatrist, social workers, occupational therapists and community mental health nurses, to provide holistic, safe and person -centred care to clients, which supports recovery journey.
Assist the nurses in the assessment, planning, implementing and evaluation of individualised care plans for the clients. Also, supporting clients with acute and long term mental health conditions by ensuring their safety through risk assessments, uses therapeutic communication to provide emotional/physical health support.
Participates in the administration of prescribed medications under the supervision of a registered nurse and organises therapeutic activities such as arts or music groups for services users.
Provides clients care such as assisting with personal hygiene and all other ADLs, e.g, feeding or monitoring fluid and balance intake. Also, ensuring comfort, emotional support, dignity, and autonomy to clients, as well as supporting clinical staff i.e nurses during all other necessary care procedures. For example, monitoring vital signs, 1:1 observation for falls risk clients, as well as ensuring the safety of clients by adherent to infection prevention and control e.g hand hygiene.
