In my Medical and Surgical rotation, I mastered taking detailed medical histories and conducting comprehensive physical examinations to guide clinical decision-making. I learned to recognize and diagnose common medical conditions, prioritize necessary investigations, and manage patient care with a focus on safety and professionalism, including emergencies and accurate prescribing.

During my ENT rotation, I focused on diagnostic evaluations and treatment planning for various ear, nose, and throat conditions. I participated in surgical procedures, honed my patient assessment and counselling skills, and collaborated with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive care.

In my General Practice rotation, I fostered professional conduct and empathetic patient interactions, embracing a patient-centred approach to care. I demonstrated a commitment to continual learning and excellence, adapting to diverse health systems, and contributing to evidence-based practice. I applied many skills, such as communication, clinical examinations, and practical procedures, to ensure high-quality and safe care. I also developed comprehensive consultation techniques, from history-taking to managing treatment plans for common and emergency presentations in a general practice setting.

In my Psychiatry rotation, I developed the skills to diagnose psychiatric disorders in various settings, applying clinical assessment techniques and evidence-based research. I focused on patient-centred care using the Biopsychosocial Model, creating thoughtful treatment plans, and adhering to ethical, moral, and legal standards in psychiatry. Additionally, I cultivated skills in clinical leadership and resilience.

Title of Project: “Bioinformatic Identification of Mutations in Chromatin Remodelling Genes in Cancer Genomes”
Summary: I performed bioinformatic analysis on The Cancer Genome Atlas to investigate mutations in chromatin remodelling genes across several cancer types using R Studio and Maftools. This work provided valuable insights into the genomic intricacies of cancer, underscoring the role of bioinformatics in paving the way for advancements in personalized oncology and targeted therapies.
