Civil’s Contractor based out of Foxford, Mayo, Ireland.

Commenced employment with Wills Bros Ltd to carryout setting out duties for the 'Adamstown Road Improvement Scheme' where they were contracted by South Dublin County Council.

The project involves re-alignment of the existing Adamstown (R120) and Nangor (R134) Regional Roads in West Dublin, immediately adjacent to Grange Castle Business Park.

The Project consists of the construction of: 3.5Km of new Single Carriageway Road, 3.5Km of footpath and cycle track on both sides of the carriageway way, 2 Signal Controlled Junctions, The widening of an existing Bridge over the Grand Canal, In excess of 10,000m of Ducting for High Voltage ESB cables, Ancillary Accommodation and Drainage Works, Traffic and Pedestrian Management associated with the above works in the vicinity of existing regional roads.

Responsibilities

Coordinated with project management through setting out and surveying duties. Liaise with project management and direct subcontractors.

Processed survey data through detailed review. Created as-built models and earthwork volumes.

Analyses survey reports, maps, blueprints, and other topographical data to effectively plan project. Estimated quantities monthly to determine project feasibility.

DMKL are a civil’s company based out of Tralee, Co. Kerry. The company has successfully completed projects ranging in value from several thousand to multi-million euro. They are members of the Irish Wind Energy Association and the most recognized as national leaders in Wind Farm Construction.

Commenced employment with DMKL in September 2015 to oversee and deliver a 6 Turbine Wind Farm in Co. Fermanagh. In my time with DMKL I have worked on numerous projects throughout Ireland with all projects aiding in the further development and infrastructure of renewable energy. All projects I worked on were design and build, where I worked very closely with designers in getting a design prepared where they would be issued for construction, the scope of works to be covered in bought design, H&S and construction for each project would typically be for roads, hardstands, foundations, piling, substations, internal grid circuits, grid connections and turbine delivery transport routes.

Responsibility

Coordinate internal resources and third parties for the execution of projects. Ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within scope and within budget. Ensure resource availability and allocation.

Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress.

Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs using appropriate verification techniques. Report and escalate to management as needed.

Manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders. Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.

Delegate project tasks based on junior staff members’ individual strengths, skill sets and experience levels. Develop comprehensive project reports to be shared with clients as well as other staff members.

Civil’s company who have 13 years of experience in delivering a wide range of major high-quality buildings and civil engineering projects for a wide range of clients across all sectors.

Commenced employment with KC Civil Engineering Ltd to oversee in the design and upgrade of the N24 Mooncoin Pavement Rehabilitation & Traffic Management Scheme. The project entailed the repair and inlay of approximately 1.7km of road pavement through the village of Mooncoin in Co. Kilkenny. Inlay pavement works required the excavation of the existing carriageway and replacement with new and/or recycled material, back to the current road levels and had to standardise the carriageway width to 6.5m through the village. Associated works to the carriageway included reinstatement of new kerb lines and footpaths. Drainage works were also carried out, including new piping, gullies, manholes, tie into existing drainage, etc.

Ensuring that all work is carried out to the highest health and safety standards and is in line with local authority level agreements.

Engineering company operating throughout Ireland and Europe with offices Galway, Serbia and the head office based out of MJ Conroy, Industrial Estate, Kilmaine Road, Ballinrobe, Co.Mayo.

Commenced employment with MJ Conroy to assist in the design and build of the new Hewlett Packard facility that consist of a three-storey office block on the grounds of the existing Hewlett Packard site in the Ballybrit Business Park on the outskirts of Galway City. The 89,000 square foot building will accommodate up to 700 people working in software R&D, cloud innovation and business services for HP worldwide. Main scope of work included construction of structure, furbish of interior, groundworks, drainage, services, and all ancillary works directed to the project. I took over this role from another site engineer to see the project out as the construction was at its final stage of completion.

Chichester Expansion Project Christmas Creek August 2011 to September 2012 Project Value $200m

Commenced employment with BCE Surveying as a Senior Engineer in August 2011 to coordinate and direct works for Fortescue Metal Group (FMG) at the Chichester Expansion Project Christmas Creek, located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia BCE were contracted to deliver on all aspect of site engineering and survey project management. Main scope of works included setout and ascon of clearing areas, bulk earthworks for 60km of Road, Tailings Dam, River Levy, Rail Siding Platforms, Turkeys Nest, Ore Processing Facility, Earth pads, Drainage and Culverts.

Rio Tinto Coastal Water Project September 2012 to March 2014 Project Value $350m

BCE engaged by Monadelphous to assist in laying 120km Water Pipeline in Pannawonica, Western Australia. The scope of the Coastal Water Project was to install; 30km 33kV Power line, 7 number Bore Fields, Collector Main 15km Polypipe, a Transfer Pump Station, Transfer Pipeline 87km of Mild Steel and Ductile Pipe. Survey works included setout and ascon of clearing areas, ditch center line, section, scour and air valves. Precession mm setout of SMP and concrete works for the Transfer Pump Station. BCE was responsible for survey project management and control networks, machine guidance for Clearing and Trenching, setout for construction and as-constructed surveys.

DDG WAWP Project March 2014 to December 2014 Project Value $100m

BCE engaged by Monadelphous KT to assist in laying 100km Gas Pipeline in Wheatstone Ashburton Area, located near Onslow, Western Australia. The scope of the Wheatstone Ashburton West Pipeline Project was to link the Chevron Wheatstone Domestic Gas Plant with the Dampier Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline. BCE were responsible for site engineering project management, setout for construction and as-constructed surveys. Scope of work included setout and ascon of clearing area, workspaces, ditch center line, control network setup, pre and post clearing photography surveys, potholing records of existing services, river crossings.

Responsibilities

Direct project works through coordinating engineering team for site duties.

Quality Checks, Setout & Ascon of clearing perimeters, bulk earthworks, drainage, trench depth, pipe horizontal & vertical positions, section, scour & air valves, SMP & concrete works, access tracks, signage, rehabilitation.

Create and upload perimeter & surface design files for handheld controllers (GPS & Total Station) and machine control (Trencher, Dozer, and Grader).

Create and modify designs to suit site duties (creating DXF and RXL files).

Process and review survey data through detailed review, create As-Built models and compile monthly earthwork volumes based on site survey records.

Designed pipeline alignments and detailed areas through river crossings with specific specifications for this Project.

Worked with Supervisors, Main Contractor Project Engineers, and Project Manager through weekly meetings to support the production for works delivered and upcoming.

Managed OHS, QA, QC, TQ’s, NCR’s and Drawing Register. Developed CAD drawings for ITP records and revisions.

Created As-constructed reports.

Analyses survey reports, maps, blueprints, and other topographical data to effectively plan project. Interpreted drawing mark-ups and implemented drawing revisions provided by engineers.

Responsible for control setup networks over 100km.

Assisted with Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) through salt flats and special crossings.

Civil’s Contractor based out of Cappawhite, Tipperary, Ireland.

Commenced employment with Cappawhite Plant Hire Ltd who were contracted by Budimex PL to deliver in the construction of the 7km A4 Motorway in Tarnow, Poland and on the 16km A4 Motorway in Jaroslaw, Poland.

Coordinated with two junior engineers through setting out and surveying duties providing hands on support when not required to office duties.

Directed work, created surface designs for GPS loggers and reviewed surveys and volumetric calculations. Processed survey data through detailed review.

Created as-built models and earthwork volumes using SCC (Survey Control Centre) software.

Worked with QS through weekly meeting support the production of weekly valuation accounts for work delivered. Analyses survey reports, maps, blueprints, and other topographical data to effectively plan project.

Structural Steel Design Company based at Ringaskiddy, Cork, Ireland.

Designers of steel-framed buildings that sold their product in Ireland and the UK. Responsible for supervising two sites at Bagleys Lane, Fulham and Kirchen Road, Eailing, London.

Responsibilities

Quality checks that works are being carried out correctly, to specification and as per RAMS. Identifying health & safety hazards while complying with applicable health & safety standards.

Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and procure Fusion product to site as necessary. Keeping project work schedule on budget and within time frame.

Up to date drawings and drawings register to work.

Reporting to the Fusion Project Manager on design problems/issues that have arisen and keeping them up to date on progress. Daily record of day-to-day events.

Surveying Company based out Limerick, Ireland.

My job with this company consisted mainly of topographical surveys, as-built surveys, setting out of housing estates and civils works, structural surveys and planning applications.

Responsibilities

Topographical surveys ranging from half-acre sites to 200-acre sites and sites in built up areas.

As-built surveys of newly built housing estates (buildings, boundaries, floor levels, kerb lines, services e.g. (manholes, sluice valves, ESB boxes, etc.).

Setting out for housing estates (foundations, position of structures, boundaries, storm and foul manholes positions, roads, and footpaths).

Setting out of roads profiles.

External and internal surveys of buildings.

Structural Steel Design Company based at Ringaskiddy, Cork, Ireland.

Designers of steel-framed buildings that sold their product in Ireland and the UK. Responsible for designing the steel frame buildings and the overlooking of the design phase from start to finish in Ireland and the UK. The jobs I over looked were housing estates, Apartment blocks and one off housing.

Responsibilities

Overlooking the Architect’s design and modifying the design to suit our set up for framing, that would include windows, doors, ceilings, floors, walls, roofs, etc.

Having to change the structure of the building too suite the current building regulation.

Be in contact with my structural engineer, project manager, site supervisor and architect collecting information and keeping them up to speed on my side of the designing phase.

Travel to sites to see how projects were coming along.

Engineering Surveying Company based out of Raheen, Limerick, Ireland.

My job with this company consisted mainly of topographical surveys, as-built surveys, setting out of housing estates and civils works, structural surveys and planning applications.

Responsibilities

Topographical surveys ranging from half-acre sites to 200 acre sites and sites in built up areas. Surveys included picking up boundaries, RL’s, neighbouring building, roads and services, really anything you see that would be vital to the job in hand.

As-built surveys, this was in newly built housing estates and my job was to survey everything from the buildings, boundaries, floor levels, kerb lines, services e.g. (manholes, sluice valves, ESB boxes, etc.).

Setting out for housing estates that work could range from setting out the foundation, position of structures, boundaries, storm and foul manholes positions, roads and footpaths.

My job here consisted mainly as the job I had with Millennium Surveys but learnt more about the structural side of engineering. This job is where I learnt my trade, when I first started out my main duty was helping out for site surveying, copying drawings, doing small designs on Auto Cad and by the end of two years I was the head Cad Technician in the office.
