Evan Lucey

• Following the reopening post Covid, due to the table service rules in place at the time, I began working in my local bar as a waiter.
• I continued to work there on a part time basis and continued during my Leaving Cert after which, I rose from waiter staff to work as a full time bar staff during the summer.
• In 2022, I took on the role of Senior staff member.
• As senior staff member, my responsibilities include opening/closing the bar, aiding in the training of new staff and dealing with any queries or issues customers may have.
• I normally work as part of team of 3-5 people and am responsible for ensuring an efficient service to customers at all times.

I gained valuable experience working on Environmental and Civil Engineering projects.

While working closely with other engineers, planners, technicians, and geologists, I was able to:

• Improve my soft skills.
• Work in a diverse environment on a range of projects.
• Gain a better understanding of the work of other disciplines.
• Improve skills such as technical writing and AutoCAD.
• Gain exposure to new software packages, such as Civil3D.

As part of a voluntary summer placement, I had the opportunity to work on the Marina Park Phase 2 project.

Here, I gained valuable experience in civil engineering and construction.

The majority of my time involved:

• Setting out using a total station.
• Giving and taking levels.
• Working alongside a range of other disciplines to ensure project efficiency
