Working Establishing and maintaining effective therapeutic relationships and providing extensive nursing support. Caring for those admitted under the Mental Health Act 2001. Medication management and administration. Assessing and managing risk using the ARAT risk assessment. Management of challenging and aggressive behaviour using verbal de-escalation skills and physical intervention. Management of self-harming behaviours and promoting healthier coping strategies. Facilitating psychoeducation/recovery groups such as the Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) and Decider Skills. Preceptorship of student nurse. All these skills include co-ordinating tasks, ongoing dynamic risk assessments, planning, implementing and overall review of patient centred care while working effectively and efficiently throughout the shift to meet the demands of the clinical environment and service user care needs.
