I made a career change 3 years ago to follow my passion and work supporting children with additional learning needs. I am enthusiastic about this role of support and care, committed to enabling children to flourish, advocating inclusiveness and independence. Aside from years of personal experience, the last two years I have worked in the new AS class of a primary school, gaining important insights that have led me to complete an additional course on inclusion for support staff ran by UCD specifically for qualified SNAs. I am a mature, empathetic and positive team worker. I work well both under supervision as well as using my initiative, reliable, responsible, hard-working and compassionate.
I work closely with neurodivergent children between the ages of 7 and 13, supporting their wellbeing and learning alongside another SNA and classroom teacher in the As unit, working as a team to support their learning, aiming at independence and fostering inclusiveness.
Sub SNA for 2 full weeks, supporting children in 1st class with diagnosed ADHD, Dyspraxia, and Dyslexia.
60 hours of work placement in a primary setting where I carried out duties of an SNA within a 2nd class and 5th class, supporting children who needed additional care, and following the classroom teacher's instructions daily.
