Colman Day

• In this role, I operate an eighteen-ton, 360-degree, rotary telehandler.
• The company offers leases for machinery and drivers to a variety of industries, for both long-term and short-term durations.
• I have operated machinery in several companies, such as MSD in Brinny, Eli Lilly in Kinsale and Jameson Distillery in Midleton.
• As an operator it was my responsibility to comply with company policies regarding health and safety, machine maintenance and record keeping.
• This role demands constant vigilance, a high level of spatial awareness and good coordination between the whole team.

• I trained as an Airline Pilot for three years having obtained my Private Pilots license and various endorsements such as an Instrument rating, Night Flight rating and Cross Country rating.
• I also passed all fourteen Airline Transport Pilots License exams with an average grade of 84%. These exams are considered by most to be the most difficult part of the journey to becoming an Airline Pilot.

Throughout my training I gained many valuable skills, some of my responsibilities included;

• Monitored fuel consumption during flights to ensure there was enough fuel available for the duration of the flight.
• Reviewed aeronautical charts prior to each flight in order to plan a safe route of travel.
• Observed instrument approach procedures at various airports in order to become familiar with standard operating procedures.
• Operated aircraft systems such as radios, navigation equipment, and autopilot.
• Practiced communication skills when talking on the radio using proper phraseology according to FAA standards.
• Gained experience interpreting information found on sectional charts such as terrain features, airspace boundaries.
• Learned how to read and interpret aviation weather reports in order to make informed decisions about flying conditions.
• Conducted navigational training exercises in accordance with IAA regulations.
• Attended ground school classes to learn aviation theory and regulations.
• Participated in simulator sessions that replicated real life scenarios encountered during actual flights.
• Prepared and submitted flight plans for upcoming flights.
• Performed emergency procedures training such as engine failure drills and stall recovery techniques.
• Maintained a logbook of all flight hours, maneuvers completed, and lessons learned.
• Calculated aircraft weight, balance and fuel requirements for each flight.

• In 2014 I set up a company called Cork Retailers Ltd. In February of the same year I began trading as Eurospar supermarket Dunmanway.
• I was the sole manager of the business for five years where I was responsible for the short term, day to day running of the business and the medium to long term goals of the business.
• Tasks included things such as,
• Monitored inventory levels to ensure product availability for customers.
• Set up promotional displays throughout the store to attract customers' attention.
• Ensured compliance with health and safety regulations in the workplace.
• Tracked sales data to identify trends in customer preferences.
• Maintained accurate records of sales transactions and other related activities.
• Organized staff schedules according to business demands.
• Ensured compliance with all applicable laws regarding the sale of alcohol or tobacco products.
• Built customer confidence by actively listening to concerns and complaints and quickly resolving issues.
• Strengthened work flow productivity by hiring, managing and developing new and employees.
