ITRODUCTION

I am Anoop Appukuttan, currently enrolled in the QQI Level 5 Healthcare Support Course at B&B Nursing Ltd. I have successfully completed 3rd module. I relocated to Ireland in 2023. Although I have a different professional background, I chose to become a healthcare assistant, inspired by my wife's experience as a staff nurse. This course has equipped me with the confidence and skills necessary to work effectively as a Healthcare Assistant in various healthcare settings or hospitals.

WHY I CHOSE THIS PROFESSION

a. Passion for Helping Others

I have always had a strong desire to care for people and make a positive difference in their lives.
Example: Volunteering at a local care home made me realize how rewarding it is to support elderly individuals with daily tasks and emotional companionship.

b. Interest in Health and Well-being

I am deeply interested in human health, how the body works, and ways to improve people’s quality of life.
Example: During my studies, I was particularly drawn to subjects related to human biology and health science, which strengthened my passion for the field.

c. Desire for a Meaningful Career

I wanted a profession where my work has real impact and purpose, not just a routine job.
Example: Assisting patients recover or providing comfort to someone in pain gives me a sense of fulfilment that no other job has offered.

d. Natural Caring and Empathetic Nature

I am naturally compassionate and empathetic, and I connect well with people in need.
Example: Friends and family often turn to me for support during difficult times, which made me realize that caregiving comes naturally to me.

Healthcare is a dynamic field with endless opportunities to learn and develop professionally.
Example: I look forward to learning new skills such as wound care, dementia support, and working towards advanced certifications in the future.

Example: With an aging population and growing healthcare needs, I chose this field knowing there will always be opportunities to grow and contribute.

Seeing the dedication of healthcare workers in my community inspired me to follow this path.
Example: During a family member’s hospital stay, I observed how healthcare assistants showed kindness and professionalism, which deeply influenced my decision.
