The National Technological University Transformation for Resilience and Recovery (N-TUTORR) national project designed to transform learning, teaching and assessment. €40 in funding was invested in the project involving all seven institutions in the TU sector.
My role as Student Empowerment Co-ordinator focused on co-ordinating the work packages implementation in Stream 1, which aimed to transform the student experience and to address the key challenges arising out of the pandemic including equality, access, community empowerment and climate action.
Duties included:
Coordinating and promoting S1 related activities including keeping detailed records in accordance with project requirements;
Coordinating the Student Partnership in Innovation and Change Fellowship scheme;
Managing the budgets of 14 Fellowship projects each awarded €5000 to spend whilst ensuring they adhered to the Conditions of Funding;
Responsible for all purchasing and payment processing on behalf of the Fellowship Team Leads;
Monitoring and tracking progress of each activity/project to ensure project deliverables were met on time;
Implementing an impact assessment plan to monitor and evaluate the impact of initiatives;
Providing and maintaining excellent record keeping in preparation for future audits;
Organising events, training and communications for S1 activities and national showcases;
Managing the recruitment of 23 Student Champions, including organising the stipend payment process;
Collaborating with the Students’ Union, Student Services and CELT on the implementation of S1 student empowerment activities;
Coordinating the institute work group on Digital Literacy and Citizenship Student Competency Framework representing the outputs through the national workgroup for S1;
Collaborating with key stakeholders, internally and externally on the creation of a Digital & Sustainable Futures Champions Network;
Participating in local and national meetings, events and conferences and presenting at same, as required;
Supporting the Institute project lead by preparing reports, analysis of student engagement, providing financial and budgetary advice
Collating engagement metrics from all streams in DkIT, ensuring staff and student engagement with N-TUTORR activities was captured for reporting to the PMO.
Assisting in writing and proof reading communication updates for local and national reports.

2 days per week I was responsible for the review, updating and communication of new and existing policies and procedures in the department, liaising with stakeholders in DkIT to ensure all requirements are catered for. I provided training and developed manuals as required based on policy changes. I developed, maintained and supervised efficient procedures and processes in the department in light of developments in the sector ensuring legislative and regulatory compliance was adhered to in line with best practice in the public service. I assisted in the implementation of audit findings to ensure processes were continually strengthened. Other duties included financial reporting to the HEA and setting up sub-accounts on Agresso as well as Agresso upgrades and testing. 3 days per week, as the senior member of the AP team, I was responsible for managing the AP function including supervising 2 staff and ensuring that payments in various currencies to suppliers, students, pension providers and funders worldwide were made correctly and in a timely manner. Other duties included end of month and year returns, management of RCT and EPSWT systems, preparing for internal and external audits and responding to queries from auditors, liaising with banks, Revenue, foreign agents, EU funders etc; Preparing and analysing monthly reports for the VP of Finance; reconciling supplier accounts at month end and managing the archiving system for the Finance Department
Responsible for the overall management of the Student Services Function and staff, the Exams Function and staff including recruitment and performance management and budgeting. Implemented and managed recruitment & replacement of an existing Service Provider. Further developed existing student development programmes that promoted retention of students. Provided reports relating to student services as required by the President and Registrar. Represented the Student Services department on internal and external bodies as appropriate. Oversaw all communications and documents relating to the area. Supported staff dealing with student issues. Worked closely with the Registrar dealing with student affairs. As Academic Affairs and Student Affairs Manager, I gained exposure to dealing with HR issues and issues from the public about students and student activities, seeking and implementing advice from our legal teams, assisting the Library staff with developing guidelines to Harvard Referencing, managing Student Union affairs and was heavily involved in Student Induction, Conferring and Open Days.
